“I hope you will forgive me a little today as I am straying. Clare and I have cancelled 3 holidays this year and decided to book a place we knew in Cyprus, recently flying out to Paphos.
Little did we know the FUN we would have in getting a Covid test and a Cyprus Fly Pass! You have 72 hours to do this, no problems you might say. We also had a weekend and Bank Holiday to contend with, so no postal service. Hence, we went private, and our son delivered our 2 tests to the Laboratory in London. I gather there is one in Wales and Scotland too, but that was hardly handy in our situation.
They acknowledged receipt of Clare’s a few hours later, and I promise you this was not easy, I managed to get the name and mobile number of a Human Being at the laboratory, who turned out to be a nice guy.
They had lost or could not find my test.
I know, how could this happen? They were both delivered together!
They sent a courier 70 miles to us, and I did the test again, its 10pm now on Sunday.
On Monday I thought I must get in contact with the Nice Guy his name is Nick, at 9 am to see if they found it. He said I have been hanging on for an hour while they were looking for it and they just have hung up on me.
All I can say is thank goodness, I am older now, I did not throw my mobile out the window after verbally destroying him. I encouraged him, thanked him for being there for us and did all the good things. After receiving Clare’s Covid all clear test back from the laboratory, we discover they have dated it incorrectly a day earlier, making it void. What a Joyous Occasion that was! I have to go back to Nick and ask him to get a new one done with the correct date on it, this is Bank Holiday Monday. Nick then texts me to say DRUM ROLL you have got the all clear! Hooray I think, I open the certificate to find they have forgotten to date it.
Well now, its 7 00 am on Tuesday. We go through to boarding where they check passports and pull aside anyone who has not got the correct paperwork.
Then we wait on the plane whilst they take off luggage for about a dozen poor people who are denied access to fly.
To conclude; We are staying in a beautiful villa and have decided to stay another week. As you will have guessed by now I have decided to scrap the copy I had originally written.
